NCRA conduct for INAT in Pune

INTRODUCTION

The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is a leading centre for research in a wide range of areas in astronomy and astrophysics. NCRA also offers exciting opportunities to work in technical aspects relevant for radio astronomy such as analog and digital electronics, signal processing, antenna design, communication and software development.

COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY

Applications are invited from highly motivated students for a research scholarship to do a Ph.D. at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune (an Autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission), or the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA-TIFR), Pune (a centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, a deemed University), which built and operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope. The IUCAA-NCRA Admission Test (INAT-2016) is being conducted to select candidates for a research scholarship towards a Ph.D. at either IUCAA or NCRA-TIFR.

CAREER PROSPECTS

For a Research Scholarship towards a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Physics. Prospective applicants should complete their B.Sc./ M.Sc./ Integrated M.Sc. degree (in Physics, Electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics) or B.E./ B.Tech./ M.E./ M.Tech. degree (in any branch) by July 2017, with 55% marks or more.

PAY PACKAGE

The selection for the research scholarship will be through a written test on Thursday, December 8, 2016, and two interviews on December 8 and/or 9, 2016 (Thursday and Friday), both to be held at IUCAA, Pune. Important Dates: The last date for the Online submission of INAT-2016 applications is September 15, 2016. The last date for the online submission of the assessment forms is September 19, 2016.
